In 2023, government coalition ministers and state secretaries spent a lot of money on their style. A list shows the extension.
To what extent does it increase? Federal government Services related to external beauty? This question was answered by the ministers of the traffic light coalition, summarized in a preliminary published version. The small request was made in writing by Bundestag MP Stephan Brandner (AfD). The document shows that politicians, their officials and parliamentary undersecretaries of state pay a lot for make-up artists and hairdressers. After all, in addition to the fashionable appearance, the head is also part of the visual appearance.
Chic hairstyle: that’s how much money the government spends on styling
According to the answer to the question, the Confederation has spent around 186,000 euros in this regard since the beginning of 2023. According to the list, the main culprit is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Annalena Baerbock’s (Greens) ministry has spent 98,770 euros on hairstyles and cosmetics since January (until the deadline of 12 October). Given that the German Foreign Minister travels a lot around the world, this inglorious top position makes sense: after all Baerbock most appointments come true, for which she is prepared accordingly.
The Federal Chancellery under Olaf Scholz (SPD) is cheaper, the cost for this is 23,013 euros, but it still remains in second place in the ranking. The Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection, however, skimps: the financial outlay for the AfD’s request is only 550 euros. The minister responsible for the government is Robert Habeck – and months ago he made headlines because he was looking for a photography companion for hundreds of thousands of euros a year.
Federal Government and Spending on Beauty Costs – Lindner Frugal?
For the Ministry of Finance led by Christian Lindner (FDP) just 1,833 euros were reported. The Federal Ministry of Family Affairs also stands out in the list of costs for hairdressers and cosmetics: Minister Lisa Paus (Greens) and the Secretaries of State amount to 20,909 euros. Other items:
- Ministry of the Interior and Homeland (Nancy Faeser/SPD): 6839 euros
- Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (Hubert Heil/SPD): 3069 euros
- Ministry of Defence (Boris Pistorio/CDU): 3870 euros
- Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (Steffi Lemke/Greens): 5333 euros
In printouts 20/9077 the federal commissioner for culture and media of the federal government is mentioned with the impressive sum of 11,170 euros – in this area the Green politician Claudia Roth is responsible. The Ministry of Health under Karl Lauterbach is currently one of the ministries not on the list.
State expenditure: the hairstyle must be right: the former chancellor still takes advantage of the offer today
According to information, the list for federal ministries includes possible supplements for activities and travel materials. What is missing from the listed costs, however, are the travel expenses themselves: a corresponding section explains: “Any travel expenses incurred as part of a trip as part of an official delegation are not recorded separately and are not included here. “
