The national team’s evening ends in chaos

In any amateur football club, team nights are probably the most anticipated event. With a cold drink you can reflect on the latest matches, the best goals or the biggest mistakes of the last few weeks.

Such evenings are often associated with activities. You can go bowling, go bowling, climb or just eat. At the same time, it is usually unimaginable how the whole thing might look for professional footballers. There are also regular evenings together in this group. Recently, these have appeared several times to the public, especially with the national team, sometimes with strange scenes.

The “Bild” newspaper reported that Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz was late for the departure bus for their evening together during the March international break. Precisely because the stars of the DFB are in the public eye, their joint activities are kept a great secret. Now the tabloid media have once again reported on an evening for the DFB team in which many things went wrong.

The national team players then went to an Italian steakhouse in Frankfurt on Thursday recommended by Eintracht goalkeeper Kevin Trapp. The professionals spent about two and a half hours there with loud music and apparently in good spirits.

When the team bus arrived to collect the stars, according to “Bild” Niklas Süle, Jonathan Tah, Pascal Groß, Jonas Hofmann and Robert Andrich left the restaurant but got into a waiting taxi. It is unclear why the Stars wanted to travel with him and not with the bus and the rest of the players. But instead of moving, the car alarm suddenly sounded.

The driver failed to turn off the unpleasant sound for several minutes, which is why curious residents also came out of their homes and watched and filmed the scene. Eventually, the taxi driver even opened the hood to check the alarm system, but initially in vain. The five DFB stars got out of the taxi and returned to the restaurant.

Shortly after, the remaining stars boarded the DFB bus and first took photos with fans. However, when the team bus left at around 11.30am, it had only traveled about 200 meters before making an emergency stop, according to the “Bild” newspaper. The association’s security officer came down, had his cell phone to his ear and was making a call.

The reason: the original taxi gang around Süle, Tah, Groß, Hofmann and Andrich was still in the restaurant and had apparently been forgotten when they left. In the end, however, the quintet also began the return journey to the team hotel, so that national coach Julian Nagelsmann can count on all the players invited for the matches against Turkey (Saturday, 8.45 pm) and against Austria (Tuesday, 8.45pm). .

Only about a month ago Steffen Baumgart clearly answered an ARD journalist’s question about what the inhabitants of Cologne need to overcome the crisis: “Me, I mean the same thing.” At the time, Baumgart and his team had only collected one point after seven games and were bottom of the table.
