Mega Garchomp Raid Day is coming to Pokémon GO. What you should pay attention to during the event and what content is available are summarized here for you.
When does the raid day start? The Mega Garchomp event will take place on Saturday, November 11th from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time.
What kind of event is this? Raid Day brings the debut of Mega Garchomp. This is what you can challenge during the event: It should appear in Mega Raids in numerous arenas.
If you defeat him, you will receive Mega Energy to Mega Evolve Garchomp. The faster you go, the more energy you get.
How’s your Mega Garchomp raid day going?
Here’s how to get Mega Garchomp: If you have defeated him in the raid, you will not receive Mega Garchomp directly, but rather the energy necessary to develop one of your Garchomps. At the end of the raid you will encounter a normal Garchomp.
Here’s how much energy you need: In total, you need 300 Mega Energy units to develop Garchomp.
What bonuses are there? Three bonuses apply during the event:
- There is a higher chance of getting Garchomp from raids
- Get 5 additional raid passes from Arenas
- Remote raid pass limit increased to 10 instead of 5
What is the best way to proceed? If you want to take full advantage of raid passes, you should make sure you do at least 6 raids with Mega Garchomp. Because you always get the next step when you’ve exhausted the last one.
If you add the regular daily pass, you get six passes for that day. So the plan should look like this to get the most out of it:
- Mega Garchomp Challenge
- Defeat as quickly as possible
- After winning, spin the arena disc
- Pick up a new passport
- Repeat
What is the fastest way to defeat Mega Garchomp? Garchomp is vulnerable to Dragon, Ice, and Fairy-types, and Ice is particularly damaging to it.
It is better to use strong counters like Crypto-Mamutel, Mega-Guardevoir or Mega-Rayquaza. Monsters like Rexblisar, Snibunna, and Mamutel are also worth it.
You can beat Mega Garchomp with strong counterattacks at a high level with two or three people. If you want to further increase your chances and play locally, you should use the team play feature to get an additional boost in your charged attacks.

Is Mega Garchomp worth it? Yes, because Mega Garchomp is one of the best attackers ever in Pokémon GO. In terms of types, only a few monsters can beat it, basically it is only behind Proto-Groudon in terms of ground type and Mega-Rayquaza in terms of dragons.
He is stronger with his Community Day special attack “Earth Forces”. However, according to the current state, you will not learn it if you take it. If you want to use it, you will probably have to use a top-loading TM. But even with the “earthquake” it is very powerful.
Optional ticket: In the shop you will also find an optional ticket for Garchomp Day. It costs 5.99 euros and offers the following contents:
- Eight additional steps when rotating arenas
- Increased chance of getting XL Candy from raids
- 50% more XP for raid victories
- Double Stardust for raid victories
You should note this: The eight passes work like day passes: you have to use one to get the next one. This means you won’t get them all at once and you won’t be able to save them all together in your item bag. Ticket bonuses are available from 2pm to 10pm, i.e. beyond the day of the raid, but are still limited in time. You should keep this in mind.
